Creating a
Culture Change

The professional school counselor is uniquely qualified to be a positive change agent in their school community. Nicole Pfleger will share examples of her collaboration with a local homeless shelter for women and children, the DREAM Team for at-risk boys, and Rachel's Challenge Program promoting character education and random acts of kindness. Her message will give counselors ideas that can be easily implemented to create a culture change by fostering relationships and collaborating with stakeholders.

Nicole Pfleger is a school counselor at Nickajack Elementary School in Smyrna, GA, where she has worked since 2006. She earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia, then went on to complete her Master's studies in School Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earn an educational specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. Nicole was recently named the 2012 School Counselor of the Year by the American School Counselor Association.
